The following committees are serving the Chamber this year:
Membership & Membership Incentives
Mandate: To increase membership, encourage participation & promote benefits.
Events, Promotion & Communications
Mandate: Provide recognition to local businesses through ongoing and special activities, and to provide support to the business community through special speakers or seminars and to plan the annual dinner, as well as the Business Gala at which winners of Non-Profit Organization of the Year, New Business of the Year and Business of the Year are announced. The speaker for the annual meeting should be a native person of St. Stephen. To promote both businesses and lifestyle in order to develop and maintain community potentials (Ex: Christmas Promotion).
Educational & Professional Development
Mandate: To strengthen the links between the business community and the private sector training organizations and educators (Ex: Choose and award $2000 Chamber Scholarship).
Finance
Mandate: Provide financial leadership, organization, and administration in an effort to assist the organization in attaining financial soundness. Further, it will proactively seek opportunities to strengthen its financial position and improve its ability to provide assistance to its members. Through the Treasurer it will report to the Board of Directors in an accurate and timely manner on subjects such as budget, financial position, cash flow and other financial analysis as required.
Advocacy & Policy
Mandate: Keep abreast of government, social and environmental issues and activities, to bring to the attention of the Chamber where Chamber involvement would be appropriate and make any recommendations for action and position by the Chamber.
